2003 Toyota Tundra SR5 V8 2WD is Riding Low when my Thor Transport Trailer is Hooked Up

Question:

Im looking at the Timbren Vehicle Suspension for the 2003 Toyota Tundra TTORTUN4. Ive have the 2003 Tundra SR5 v8 2 wheel drive and purchased a 1999 Tahoe by Thor Transport M25-TB 25. Trailer base weight of 5,600. My model Tundra has as towing capacity of 7,300, but when hitched, it rides extremely low. Is this the recommended product for my issue or do you have other recommendations? Thanks.

Based on your 2003 Toyota Tundra SR5 2 WD riding very low once you are towing your trailer, I would recommend a weight distribution system instead. Helper springs like the Timbren # TTORTUN4 you referenced are made for heavy loads carried in your truck and weight distribution is for squat (sag) caused by a coupled trailer. Check your current trailer hitch weight rating label and make sure a weight-distributing capacity is listed.

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. The most important rating to use when matching up a weight distribution system is the actual tongue weight.

The weight distribution I recommend is the Reese Steadi-Flex weight distribution with sway control # RP66560. It will include a 13 inch shank and the maximum rise is 8-3/4 inches, maximum drop is 4 inches, from the top of the hitch receiver opening. The gross towing weight is 12,000 pounds and tongue weight is 600 to 1,200 pounds. You'll need a hitch ball, the 2-5/16 inch diameter # 19286 or 2-inch diameter # A-90 will work just fine.

I included a couple video reviews and helpful article for you too.
