We don't have a video that details how to replace the strap of your K2 Winch like part # K2RASP8219, but I did speak to my contact at K2 and he gave me a brief description of the process.

On the winch there is a u-bolt that needs to get removed after feeding the strap all the way out. He said this is pretty obvious and easy to do. Next, there is a pin holding the strap to the spool. On the side of the winch there are a couple of holes. You will need to line the pin up with one of the holes so that it can be slid out. The pin is threaded so if you can find a long bolt or screw to thread down into the pin that will help you get it out. Or he mentioned using a set of vice grips.

On the plow side you will just need to remove the u-bolt to get the strap off of the plow. To install the new strap you will need to reverse the entire process.

The strap you need is the part # K2WS8020 that you referenced.

He said the install process will be very easy and not take very long.

How to replace the dk2 plow lift strap. You said there are holes on the winch side. I don’t see any except the ones to take the motor or gears off. So do I need to disassemble the whole thing to replace the strap? I had it apart and I still don’t know how to get the pin out. It looks like it would need pressed out. Probably ruin the bearing. Help I want easy peasy

@WilliamS So this answer was written many years ago so there's a chance the winch they use now is different. Which specific Detail K2 winch do you have though?

@JamesonC I m not sure but I know that it is the same torn down as the one in your pictures I saw on your website. Just wanted to make sure that pin comes out.

@WilliamS It does come out. You might have to grab it with vice grips to turn it but otherwise you could email me a picture of the setup and I can see if maybe we are both missing something. [email protected]
