Roof Rack For 2012 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab For Carrying Canoe

Question:

Im looking for a ladder rack style rack to carry a 18 foot canoe. I own a 2012 Ford F150 XLT SCREW with an Truck Cover American Roll Cover with Yakima rail integrated on the cover rails. Will a Yakima OverHaul HD fit without modifications with the Tonneau Cover Adapter Kit for Yakima OverHaul HD and OutPost HD Truck Bed Ladder Racks - Y01155? I see similar installs on other makes and different covers. Thanks for the support and professional support. Regards

While the Yakima rack and tonneau adapter won't fit the standard Yakima rails on an American Roll cover on your 2012 Ford F-150 SuperCrew, what you can do is add a roof rack to your truck along with a canoe carrier. The best option for this is from Rhino-Rack because it is the best overall value for a roof rack; Rhino-Rack's quality is equal to similar brands, but at a better price point because you aren't paying extra for a specific brand name printed on the crossbars.

The parts that make up the Rhino-Rack roof rack that fit your 2012 Ford F-150 SuperCrew are the following:

- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Silver # RRVA150S-2 or Black # RRVA150B-2

- Rhino-Rack 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA

- Custom DK Fit Kit # DK150

This rack uses long, 59 inch aero bars which gives you a lot of space to mount even a wide canoe, and the aero-shape of the crossbars use rubberized vortex strips on top which disrupt the air flow, giving you a much quieter ride than other types of bars. Then for a kayak carrier I recommend an option from Malone:

- Malone BigFoot Pro Canoe Carrier with Tie-Downs - Gunwale Brackets - Side Loading # MPG112MD

This is an easy-to-use carrier that just clamps onto the crossbars and has a robust 165 lb capacity. It also comes with load straps to secure the canoe to the rack, and bow/stern tie-downs. The only other thing you may need, if your F-150 doesn't have easily accessible tie-down points, are the Malone QuickLash T-Style Hood Loops for Bow and Stern Tie-Downs # MPG308.
