I recommend using the Curt 1 1/4" hitch receiver item # C12038 for your 2005 Subaru Forester. This receiver has a 350 lbs tongue weight limit and is the highest capacity receiver we sell for your vehicle. Curt hitches are custom fit for your vehicle and require no drilling or welding. I have linked an install video. I have also included a link to our full selection of bike racks.
