Shipping was fast. Product quality was impressive. Installation was "tricky" when it came to using the fishwire, but I finally got the hang of it. Pleased with my purchase.

I remain happy with my trailer hitch purchase.

The hitch itself is an excellent product. Solid, well built and finished very nice. However, if you do not have a lift, it is NOT a one hour job for the do it yourselfer. I have years of mechanic experience and I got frustrated installing it. I did get it done and it looks great but it took me three hours.

2003 BuickLeSabre

Crazy quick shipping, well packaged for a heavy item. I followed some other customers' advice and dropped the exhaust from the mid-car hanger as well as the rear, it made drilling the passenger side mounting hole much easier. But, I did not get the system back in place the first try- the oxygen sensor was bound up by it's heat shield. Very noticeable noise on test drive. Another look made it clear what needed to be dropped down and re-installed properly. The instruction sheet wasn't quite clear on what the orientation of the replacement rear pipe hanger should be, but it was easy to figure out. The wiring adapter went in just as easily, I even used the 3M-style quick connectors rather than stripping and soldering like I expected to, nice to only have to run the wire to under the back seat to hook to the battery! Overall, about two hours of work, if I had not been sidetracked, and under $200. A little tough seeing the boy driving off for his summer adventure, but nice knowing he has a good, safe hitch to pull his cargo along.

Saturn Vue

This was my 2nd Curt hitch purchased through etrailer. On the 1st one, for an '04 Saturn Vue, everything went smoothly; ordering, merchandise quality, delivery, installation - a total 5 Star experience.
My most recent order - A Curt hitch for an '02 Buick LeSabre, started out just as promising; ordering, merch quality, delivery, all great. Then came a small problem with installation. My parts list included the fishwire tool and two 3/8 flange nuts. Problem was, they weren't there. Luckily, I had some 3/8 locknuts, and some Ni-chrome wire that I fashioned into a fishwire tool, so I didn't have to call etrailer, then wait for parts to arrive. (I know they would've sent them next-day express - they take their customer service seriously). For me, this was only a minor irritation, but for someone else in the middle of an install, it may have been a significant problem.
Hence, this time only 4 stars. But in my opinion, they are a really good company.

A year after install, all is good. The hitch has performed as promised. Thumbs up for etrailer.

Great product, super fast shipping and the price was right. I’m very happy with my purchase and the service received from etrailer. I turned around and ordered the wiring kit also. Didn’t think about it until I installed the hitch. That was also a great deal and super easy to hook up!

by:

Great product, easy install, and I'm super happy with my hitch and how fast your service and delivery was.
Thank you, and I don't often respond to these review type questioners .

Its working out great. Pulled a trailer about 10,000 miles with that hitch and no troubles! Thanks.

by:

It was an easy install. I can say this due to the fact I had never installed a hitch before. Directions spot on. My time invested was maybe 2 hours max 1/2 that was reading and prepping. Great product but the fish I am catching might disagree. I recommend this hitch to all my friends along with etrailer as a seller.

2006 Buick Lucerne

The Curt trailer hitch for my 2006 Buick is the third hitch I've purchased from etrailer.com. Like the other two purchases, this one was perfect, as well! Great prices, fast shipment, professional on-line tutorials make purchase and installation a snap! While the tutorial suggested installation would take one hour, it took me 2 hours. One hour to install and another hour to get up off the ground. At 65 I'm not a flexible as I used to be............... ;) Would highly recommend the American made Curt hitch over other brands. Fit and finish were top know and it provides jobs for American workers. Worth a couple bucks extra, for sure! Thanks etrailer!

Installed on a 2004 Buick LeSabre Custom (1 Exhaust)

Took 2 days to get tracking info, 6 days to arrive at my door. Packaging was perfect, nothing was loose or damaged. Attaching the hitch proved easy if you are familiar with a wrench. After having watched the install video, I have a couple notes:

1) I HIGHLY recommend an electric/pneumatic impact wrench, it just saves so much time
2) Do not go easy on the WD-40
3) Save yourself from frustration by removing the exhaust from both the middle and the rear mounts to clear it out of the way (use a jack stand to support it) It wont be completely out of the way, but enough to drill without too many problems
4) Get some decent metal drill bits. The video says long drill bits will help you drill behind exhaust but as someone else said, they don't. If you follow tip 3, long bits are helpful but not necessary
5) Find a buddy to help you hold the hitch up when you initially put the bolts in, it gets heavy quick if you do it yourself.

Oh and the bolt fish wire was amazingly handy.

Overall it looks/feels great and etrailer couldn't be any more helpful with instructions on how to install! It's quality and I highly recommend it.

2014 Pontiac Bonneville

I was able to get this email installed on Saturday, and put it to use on Sunday to tow a motorcycle. Worked without any hiccups on the 6 hr round trip to the track. Only issues with install were due to the condition of the undercarriage of the Bonneville (rusted bolts/brackets). I highly recommend you spray some pb blaster on the bolts and nuts the day before install to help break them loose. Also may need to improvise if you only have one muffler. The weld nut on the side without the exhaust was rusted out because it was completely exposed to the elements (no bolt in hole) so I had to tap the hole. Again this is because of the condition of the 14 year old Bonneville. Product quality is great, the best I can tell so far!

I have bought a few hitches from etrailer in my life and they have always fit perfectly, without any problems. If I ever replace my vehicle and need a another hitch for it I would definitely buy from etrailer.

by:

We were actually having a humorous discussion last night about how etrailer.com manages to ship so fast. The long, involved story involved Steve McQueen and total disregard for traffic laws. And special US delivery trucks with race engines.
Perhaps not.
Regardless, you guys always manage to ship the hitch MUCH sooner than I am prepared to install it. My question is: If YOU guys can do this, why can't everyone ELSE???

I did the job in the dark, on gravel, with my daughters helping me. It was a snap. Videos are amazingly helpful.

You guys rock.

This is a nice hitch. There were a couple things, not a big deal. I had to bend a lip on my car (2000 Buick Lesabre) right behind the back of the receiver tube because the tube sticks out a little bit. The muffler hanger bracket, they want you to hang your rubber hanger off the bolt. The holes in the hanger are a little bigger than 1/2" and the bolt is 3/8". What I did was went down to my local Ace and bought a spacer that the bolt would fit through and cut it to length, worked great. The nut for the muffler hanger bolt should be a nylon locking nut, I used some locktight and tightened it up against the spacer I put in. Besides those two things (and the rust in that unused bolt hole) it went smooth.

2001 BuickLeSabre

Installed hitch on a 2001 Buick Lesabre, single exhaust. Biggest problem was cleaning out the driver's side bolt hole as it was not used previously. Fishing worked great. Also purched the Curt Cargo Carrier. Fit was tight against the plastic bumper cover but not to intererence.

by:
2008 Buick Lucerne

Unit is well made and the online how to video for my was very helpful. I am
planning to use this hitch with a cargo carrier to carry my gas cans to station
for fueling, we loose power at times during hurricanes and power may
be off several days.

by:

I recieved the product in less time than I had anticipated and was very satisfied with the product. Based on my somewhat limited search this was an excellent value for the product and the quality was very good. The instructions for installation were accurate and all in all I am very pleased that I purchased this trailer hitch through etrailer. I will definitely `check etrailer for similar products if I have future need for products you handle.

2005 BuickLeSabre

I installed my 12044 hitch on my 2005 Buick LeSabre. I have a couple comments. First the video suggests using long drill bits to help clear the muffler. I could not get long bits locally and besides after looking at it, even with a long bit you still have a nasty angle to drill the holes. Plus the cost of these bits for one hole. I was able to get to it by using a right angle drill motor after removing the rubber hanger halfway up the exhaust system. Was not too difficult to do, the rubber mount just slides out. This worked pretty well plus I was able to drill a straight hole. My point is that I would have appreciated it if this option was suggested in the video. Would have saved me some time. Please add this suggestion, it would have helped me and could help the next guy.

2001 BuickLeSabre

Just wanted to say that im extremely pleased with my made in America Curt Receiver, you can feel the quality in the heft of the item, the welds are flawless and the powder coating looks perfect, there is no pitting or raised bumps from welding slag not being cleaned off before it was sent to be coated. and that's just the item itself, the price was very reasonable and the shipping was surprising at how fast it arrived, i almost didn't know what it was because i wasent expecting it for a few more days still. Also the communication between myself and etrailer was very personable, wasent a form letter (and if it was one its a great one because i couldn't tell if it was one)

by:

Arrived very promptly, packaged well, and all “parts” firmly packed within box. Very sturdy hitch, US made! There was a “ASN” hitch sold on Amazon that went for $122(?), approx. $25 less. I inquired as to its “country of origin”, and was told China. Not a good gamble when your are towing something in my book.
Very happy with quality, cost, and this hitch’s “country of origin!”

We are very satisfied with our hitch. My husband will be using it to haul his handicap scooter. We had to return the first one because the installer had ordered the wrong one. The return was easily handled . We will be a return customer

by:
2006 Buick Lucerne

very nice. just make sure you have all the right stuff to install it first. you may have to order the drill bit. they didnt have one at any store near me. I used 15/32 drill bit instead of 17/32 as they said. then i just worked the bit in and out until the bolt fit right. other than that it wasnt to bad to install

by:

Arrived quickly, hitch had tore through the box, finish was scuffed up in one spot. Installation wasn't bad, video tip on cleaning out threads on car was a life saver.

by:

Hitch InstallThis is my third hitch from Etrailer and as allways the install was as advertised. I have recomended your product to several others and have never heard a complaint. Thanks for a quality product with fast shipping at a fair price. Larry

  • Availability of Class III Hitch for 2001 Buick LeSabre
A Class II hitch like the # C12044 is going to be the only option for your 2001 Buick LeSabre. Most cars only have a Class I or Class II hitch available since they aren't typically used for towing. If you really want a higher rated hitch with a 2" receiver you would have to take the # E17 to a fabricator. They would be able to take the receiver and fashion a custom hitch for your vehicle.
