This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with a 4 pole flat trailer connector. This product fits a 2001-2003 Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, and Chrysler Voyager. Provides a 4 way flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with 5 pole, 6 pole, and 7 pole adapters. Adapters are sold separately and it's going to come with a dust cap for the 4 way flat connector. That way you can cover up the connection points when the plug's not being used. The black box right here is the included taillight converter.
This is going to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The unit connects quickly and easily. No cutting or splicing is required. Just locate the connection points behind the taillight. It's going to be the driver's side taillight and plug in your connectors.
They're a perfect fit. They're going to snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure connection point and again, the wiring harness is custom fit for your vehicle. It's vehicle-specific. Once you have those plugged in, you can mount the converter box with the included cable ties and then you need to route this down to the trailer hitch. Once your installation's complete, the 4 way connector's going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We do recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connector secure and easily accessible.
Mounting brackets are sold separately. If you're in need of one, you can find them here at etrailer.com and then we also want to encourage you to use the included grease packet on all your electrical connections like the plug on the vehicle and the 4 pole connector itself. It's really going to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required.easy to install, the lead to the tail light needs to be longer, had a little trouble getting it plugged in due to the short length, other than that it worked well.
Fit like a glove and super easy to install! Customer service was amazing too! Adam is the best and i couldn't have done this without him! He helped me on a pinch and delivered on time!
