A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

how to find the right tie down for my truck - custom camper tiedown

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

Frame mounted tie downs that attach to the reciever. No holes to drill!

by:

The parts arrived on time and the installation went super easy! All in all it took about 15 minutes!

by:

Very durable and good looking product. It is a great investment for someone like me who carry heavy camper on the bed of my pick-up truck. Would highly recommend it.

by:

This product is made to fit several versions the Ford F250- mine is a 2002 model. This attached to the factory installed hitch just as it said it would. The only derivation came when I went to attach the bracket which locks over the bolt and existing crossbar. The angle of the bolt did not match the angle of the fitting, so it does not quite fit as snug as I would like. Nonetheless, it holds well so far, being that the acorn nut tightens down and locks things in place. I hauled a 1 ton slide-in camper 60 miles without any hassle. This product does what Etrailer said it would, and along with its counterparts in the front of my truck box, - also an etrailer purchase- I have no worries about summer camping season! I am a satisfied customer.

Ive put over a thousand miles on the truck and camper last season. My etrailer purchase of the torklift product continues to be a reliable system of box-camper stability.

by:

Great product, just what I needed and fair price. This web site is easy to navigate and ordering is a breeze.

Still works as advertised and just the right product for use.

by:

The Torklift True Frame Mounted Camper Tie Downs I purchased for my 2004 F350 with single rear wheels seem to be constructed out of sufficient steel gauge and grade of steel to adequately hold a camper in the truck bed. This method of securing a camper to the bed of the pick up is probably the most secure method available because it does not rely on the strength and integrity of the bed walls. My experience with this Ford is that the pickup bed is not designed for certain weight bearing applications and such as supporting heavy overhead racks on rough roads. They are also probably not designed to handle the forces that may occur on rough roads, during an emergency maneuver, or during even a minor collision with a bed mount system. The same is probably true for Dodge and Chevy.

by:

Perfect fit on 2001 F350 crew cab with factory tow hitch. Super easy to install and work perfectly. Got front mounts to and also work perfectly. Definitely worth the money. Thanks TorkLift and Etrailer for another great bolt on product!!!
I'm a happy camper!!

by:

Your salesman (Adam) was a 5 star your product a 4 had to customize back tie down Also overly expensive bills for 4 hunks of metal Give Adam a raise (very professional)

by:

Once again Adam directed me the the correct product. Arrived quicker than I expected and all was good.

by:

Speedy service, was delivered when they said they would be.

by:

Driver's side front tie-down was tough to install, my '99 Ford Super Duty wouldn't allow the placement of the 1" backer plate on the inside of the frame due to other OEM things installed in that channel of the frame area. I was able to get the bolt and star washer in. Other than that the whole system was straight forward and good quality!

by:

Installation took less than 10 minutes and were ready for use.

by:

Tayler was very helpful with finding the right part and filling my order. shipping was fast, the parts are well made and installation was easy. over all it was a great shopping experience..

Products came before promised and etrailer matched lower price I could have gotten [online] for the same products.

by:

I've ordered thru e-trailer several times and the customer service has always been excellent. I will continue using e-trailer in the future as I know they won't disappoint me.

by:

Exactly what we wanted. Installation was pretty easy for me, a 70's year old, and my wife provided her skillful assistance. We got about eight thousand miles on our damper last year.

by:

The product arrived a day earlier than predicted and with all the necessary hardware. The install took less than 15 minutes and the parts fit right as they were suppose to. Great product and great service will be ordering the front ones soon.

by:

The help I got to get the right item was outstanding. Will update when I install.

by:

Used for a 2022 Palomino/Real-Lite on a 2002 Ford 150 SuperCrew and they work perfectly, I'm very pleased with my purchase

  • How Do the Rear Camper Tie Downs for a 2004 F-250 Super Duty Install in the Trailer Hitch
The 2-1/2 inch opening is not going to be a problem. The rear tie downs, # TLF3001, come with a sleeve that fits around the outer tube and inside of the open ends of the hitch on the truck. With the sleeve on the width of the outer tube becomes 2-1/2 inches. I pulled # TLF3001 to confirm this. There would be minimal space between the outer tube sleeve and the inner part of the hitch tube. On the bracket from the center of that bolt that faces rearward to the end of the tube is 6 inches....

  • Would TLF3001 Fit my 2000 Ford F-350 with the Factory Hitch
Yes the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs part # TLF3001 will work on your 2000 Ford F-350 with the factory hitch. They are designed to be very easily installed and do an excellent job of keeping your camper secure. The rear most portion of the hitch where you say it is rounded in slightly may pose a slight interference issue but if it does just bend or tap it out just enough for the tie downs to slide in.

  • Recommended TorkLift Custom Camper Tie-Downs for 2001 Ford F-350
We have a nice selection of TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs designed to fit your 2001 Ford-350, however the particular front tie-downs you need will depend on your exact model and what it is equipped with. For example, if your F-350 with the 8 foot bed features a board or step underneath the truck bed and the factory trailer hitch, you will need the Camper Tie-Downs # TLF4006 for the front. If you find you also need the rear tie-downs, you will use part # TLF3001. I have...

  • Compatibility of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs
Since your F-250's hitch was installed after it left the factory it could potentially be either a factory hitch or an aftermarket hitch. There should be a safety sticker on the hitch that indicates its capacities and also its manufacturer. If there is no such sticker on your hitch, nor any identification for brand (Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch) nor a part number, then chances are its the OEM version. If you have a non-Torklift aftermarket hitch the tie downs you can use are part # TLF2011...

  • Installation Help for Truck Bed Camper on to My 1999 Ford F-250
From my research I found that the recommended clearance between your truck cab and the overhang of your truck bed camper is at least 1 1/2". You can put something in the bed of your truck to raise the camper, the idea I like the best is the high density foam insulating board. This will give some added height and will not be heavy to move around. You can pick those up at your local hardware store. Once you put a piece or two of the foam boards in the bed of your truck, you will be able...

The TorkLift camper tie downs you referenced, # TLF2011 and # TLF3001 will have an outer assembly and an inner assembly. Tie down # TLF3001A will too but it has aluminum components. The measurements will be the same for all of these. I pulled # TLF2011 to take the measurements. The inner tube is smaller, 1-1/2 inches square with a wall thickness of 3/16 of an inch. The part of the inner tube that you tie the camper off to is 1/4 inch thick. The outer tube is larger at 2 inches square...

It will extend out 3" from the stake pocket before flaring out to ensure that your fenders are not to wide. This product is also not recommended to be used if your camper is more than...
