Best RV Roof Vent For An Enclosed Trailer Used For Lawncare
Question:
I have a 14 x 7 Diamond Cargo enclosed trailer and would like to add a roof vent to it. I own a lawn care and landscaping business in Florida and with all the equipment it can get pretty hot inside. Im not sure of the thickness of the roof but I do know it is pretty thin. I would like to get a vent that I can keep open while I drive job to job which are very short distances as well as not having to worry about rushing to close it if it starts to rain. I would appreciate any insight and/or recommendations that you could offer. Thank you.

We have a couple of options designed to meet these needs specifically with MaxxAir's line of RV vents. The first option being the MaxxFan Mini Plus Manual RV Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - LED Light - White # MA00-03801 (black # MA00-03851). This style vent has no lift to it but does come with an LED light ring, which could be useful in your trailer when the sun goes down. This vent can fit a roof thickness of 1" to 4-1/2" thick.
The next option would be the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - White # MA00-05301K (black # MA00-06401K) This is a step up with a larger fan and four speeds. It has a manual lift along with a rain shield lid. It can fit roofs 1-1/8" to 6-1/2" thick.
The last option would be the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - White # MA00-07000K (black # MA00-07500K). This is the premium version of the Deluxe line and offers a thermostat mode, powered lift, and 10 speeds. The reversible fan can either act as an exhaust fan pulling hot air out of the trailer or circulate air as a ceiling fan. The thermostat mode would allow the fan to kick on and off as needed based on the temperature you set it to.
Out of the choices I've listed the best option in my opinion is the Mini Plus # # MA00-03801 (black # MA00-03851). It's the most cost effective option that gives you an option to vent 24/7, a fan to help pull hot air out, and doesn't require you to close the lid.
You'll want to pick up some butyl tape and self leveling sealant with kit # 344270KITW to waterproof the vent during installation. I've attached a few of my installation videos below. I recommend checking out the ones I did with a Deluxe in an enclosed trailer so you can get a better idea of what you'll need to do to install it.
