Can One J-Style and One Saddle Style Kayak Carrier Be Used On 2014 Subaru Outback

Question:

I want to carry two kayaks on top of my 2014 Subaru Outback, but they might not both fit if they are laid flat. They would fit if they could be placed on their sides. Can I use a J-type carrier on the front and the SweetRoll on the back for each kayak? In other words, will the SweetRoll work if the kayak is on its side and not lying flat?

In order to carry two kayaks on a 2014 Subaru Outback you'll need to carry them both on their side, the Yakima JayLow Kayak Carrier part # Y04073 would actually allow you to carry both with only one set of cradles. I would however add the Yakima Bow/Stern Tie-Down Ropes part # Y04031 and Yakima Cinch Straps part # Y05006 since you are carrying two boats as the above only comes with enough tie-downs for one.

The Yakima SweetRoll Kayak Carrier would not be a good option even for one of the two kayaks due to the limited space.
