Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2017 GMC Acadia
Question:
2017 GMC Acadia 4 cylinder hitch and wiring. Could you provide me with the hitch and wiring product numbers for this make/model? I purchased one online off of Amazon, that said it would fit the 2017 Acadia, but the mechanic said the one I bought wouldnt work. Hopefully I can get the correct hitch. Thank you.

I think I have forgotten more about hitches than Amazon will ever know! Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 76023 and Curt trailer hitch # C13293 will both fit your 2017 GMC Acadia. I have linked a video showing an example installation of the Draw-Tite hitch on a 2017 Acadia for you.
The trailer wiring harnesses that are available all fit models that came with the factory tow package. If you take a look at the video, I have linked on # 118720 you will see where it plugs in on the vehicle. That vehicle side plug will need to have power when the brake pedal is stepped on, headlights are turned on, and turn signals engaged. If it does, then this harness will not work. You can test the factory plug, if present, using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one. I am confident that all 2017 Acadias have the plug.
If not then you could hardwire a 4-Way connector in using # C59496.
Since it sounds like you will be doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
