Question:
Ok, got a project. I have a Man Cave Im working on. The Man cave is in the Attic, where I store all my Electronic Computers and Server room. Of course once its built. Now- I will assemble a chair platform in my closet from where it will lift with a winch into the sacred Man cave. The Seat/platform will be ball parking 75-100lbs and go upward guided by a rail system bolted to the wall. Lifting will be at the rate speed of the winch. But the lowering.... well a free fall is what Im wanting to avoid. Any ideas? Love to hear them. I wish I knew how to draw pictures in this text box to show the plans I have. If you want to send ideas or pictures Id love to look at them. Oh just made a Drawing. Ok no Jokes, I dont draw well....

A man cave in the attic, sounds like an interesting project that you have going on here. I would love to see pictures of the project once it is completed!
The StrongArm AC Powered Winch, # DL25514, that we offer powers in and out to avoid a free-fall situation. This winch has a load capacity of 1,200 pounds based on a 10' pull and should be used intermittently with a maximum continuous run time of 4 minutes.
I do have to mention that all Dutton-Lainson StrongArm electric winches are built for multipurpose hauling and pulling operations. For safety reasons they are not to be used as hoists for lifting, supporting or transporting people, or for handling loads over areas where people could be present.
Please keep this in mind if you choose to use this winch to raise a platform, guided by a rail system, into your Man Cave.
