Question:

Hi, just bought a used 1997 Nissan Pathfinder and need to put ahitch on it. i took it to u-haul where I was to pay for the hitch and installation. When I got there the guys at the tregister not mechanics said the bolts were too rusty and sent me away. I need to know what I can do.

I recommend the Curt Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13088. I have included installation instructions as well.

I have included a video showing the installation of the hitch on a similar vehicle and a video showing how to clean the weld nuts in the frame of your vehicle.

You will need to check the installation points under the vehicle in the frame. If the weld nuts are rusty you will need to clean them and work properly sized bolts into them until you can easily install the hitch.

If you cannot get the nuts to accept a bolt, a tap will be needed to open the weld nuts for hitch installation.

If you need wiring, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector # 118361 for Hidden Hitch # 70609. I have also included a link to the instructions.
