Coupler Recommendation for a Tow Dolly from the 1970s
Updated 09/22/2014 | Published 09/21/2014 >
Question:
Hello, I have an old tow dolly from the 70s and it has a hand wheel hitch coupler that is damaged. I need the new parts for it but my tow bar is rated at 5000lbs and the parts you sell say they are only rated for 2000lbs. Is there another part that you have that would work for me? I noticed you had the whole tongue piece that seems correct however I do not need the whole piece as I cant remove the bracket on my tow bar as it is part of it permanently. I only need the wheel, latch and spring. Thank you in advance. Best,

Your overall best option would be to replace the coupler that is on your trailer, if you were to take your tow dolly to a welder/fabricator they would be able to remove your old coupler and then replace it with a new one pretty easily. The Titan coupler part # T2343400 would be a great choice as long as your trailer has a 3 inch channel trailer frame.
Without knowing the manufacturer of the coupler you have on your trailer it would be pretty difficult to pick out a repair kit. Especially since we do not offer one with a high enough capacity for your application.
