I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains how to troubleshoot trailer wiring. It could be a number of things that are causing your trailer lights not to function. The wire kits we offer for your 2005 Kia Sorento require a converter included because the Sorento has a separate wiring system. This means the brake and turn signals are sent along separate wires.
A couple of the causes for the trailer not to receive any voltage is that the converter is not properly connected to the battery, or a required fuse or relay is blown. You can use a circuit tester to make sure you are getting power to the trailer side of the connector. Test the wiring connector while the trailer is not connected. If you do not have power, then move forward until you isolate the problem.
