Question:

Will this trailer hitch work with my truck,? if not what do you recommend? Can i pull fifth wheel with short box and ram box? Do i need to go to ball type trailer hitch? Please help!!

Although the manufacturers will not recommend using a fifth wheel hitch on a truck with the Rambox since it has not been tested, numerous customers have said that it has worked for them.

The B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider, # BWRVK3400-5W, and Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # BWGNRK1313-5W, has been confirmed to work with the 2012 Dodge Ram Short Bed Pickup. As mentioned earlier, the manufacturer has not performed any testing to confirm that this system will work with the Rambox.

Since your Ram is a short bed, I also recommend that you look into installing a Sidewinder fifth wheel king pin on your trailer. When towing with a standard king pin, the fifth wheel trailer turns or pivots where the king pin is connected to the hitch. With the sidewinder, the truck and trailer are prevented from pivoting at the hitch. Instead the pivot point is located 22 inches closer to the tailgate creating much more space in between the truck cab and trailer on sharp turns. I have attached an article for you to check out.

Please keep in mind that if you plan to use a sliding hitch to tow a fifth wheel trailer equipped with a Sidewinder, you will have to lock the sliding hitch in the tow position to keep it from having two pivot points in your set-up.
