What kind of tool box would you recommend for a 1986, GMC Caballero half ton truck and woud it go all the way across bed.

We don't have any confirmed fit for tool boxes for you 1986 GMC Caballero, but if you measure the dimensions of your truck bed you could determine if the part # DZM207 that you referenced would fit. This box is 35" long x 12" wide x 12-1/2" tall, if your truck bed can accommodate a box that big this one should work well for you.
