The factory bar, or what the hitch instructions call the beam, does not have to be removed on your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 to install Curt trailer hitch # C13175. I have linked the instructions to the right for you to view.
For this hitch I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
