Automatic Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch for a 2027 Ford F-350 With Factory Prep

Updated 10/30/2026 | Published 10/29/2026

Question:

I just bought a 2027 Ford F-350 with the 6-3/4' bed and factory fifth wheel prep package. Our fifth wheel has a Lippert Rhino pin box, and I'd like an automatic sliding hitch so I don't have to get out and manually move it when backing into campsites. What would you recommend?

Hey Marcus, congratulations on the new truck! I recommend the PullRite SuperGlide Fifth Wheel Hitch # PUL73RR for your 2027 Ford F-350 with the factory prep package. This installs directly into your factory puck system without needing additional rails or adapters.

The SuperGlide automatically slides back as you turn, giving you additional cab clearance without having to manually reposition the hitch. You'll also need the PullRite Quick Connect Capture Plate # PUL44ZR for your Lippert Rhino pin box. This keeps the king pin from rotating in the hitch head so the automatic sliding mechanism works properly.

What kind of fifth wheel are you towing, and where are you headed next?

Thanks Robin! We're towing a 2025 Grand Design Solitude. One other question, can I leave the SuperGlide installed and put a retractable tonneau cover over it when we're not towing?

@Marcus I recommend the RetraxPRO MX # RT80383 for your F-350's 6-3/4' bed. It's a retractable hard cover, so you can open it when towing and close it over the SuperGlide when you're not using it. If you think you might add a ladder rack or crossbars later, I'd go with the RetraxPRO XR # RTT-80383 instead. It has built-in T-slot rails for mounting a compatible rack while keeping the retractable cover.
