How Much Height Clearance Does the MORryde Sliding Cargo Tray # MR87FR Require?

Updated 10/27/2026 | Published 10/21/2026

Question:

Hello, Im looking at the 90x26inch cargo drawer for the 26x16inch size opening for our front storage compartment in our Kodiak Cub 175BH travel trailer. I want to make an outdoor kitchen system that sits on the drawer and can either be used in the drawer or picked up and moved over to a picnic table like a Camping Chuck Box. Due to the orientation of the drawer, Im thinking about a couple different modules like what Boxio offers for outdoor camping kitchens, a sink module, a stove module, etc. I think their typical boxes are about 11inch in height, so I think there would be plenty of room for their boxes to sit in the drawer and clear the opening. But for other items that I keep in the drawer, I am looking to understand what their maximum height can be to clear the opening for my front storage compartment. So Im looking to understand the thickness of the floor of the drawer. I saw another question answered that the clearance from the floor of the rail mounting surface to the opening for the storage compartment bottom of the drawer is 1.57inch so depending on how thick the floor of the drawer is, I figure I can fit items up to about 15inch tall but curious to know a more exact number? Is there enough room for something thats 15.5inch inches tall from the floor of the drawer to the clearance height of my 26x16inch compartment hatch openings? Thanks in advance for the details! Its a big purchase so I want to fully figure out what I can do with it.

Hey David!

I reached out to MORryde to get some more specific measurements on the 90" x 26" Sliding Cargo Tray # MR87FR, and they were able to help us out!

MORryde confirmed that the floor of the tray is approximately 3/8" thick. When we factor that in with the 1.57" of clearance underneath the tray, you're looking at about 1.95" from the mounting surface to the top of the tray floor. I've put an illustration of the dimensions below for your reference.

With your Kodiak Cub 175BH having a 16" tall compartment opening, that leaves you with approximately 14" of usable height for anything sitting inside the tray, assuming the mounting surface is level with the bottom of your opening.

Unfortunately, that means your 15.5" tall items won't quite make it. MORryde also confirmed that there's no way to adjust the tray to sit any lower, so we wouldn't be able to gain any additional clearance that way.

I really like your idea of building a modular outdoor kitchen, though! The 11" tall Boxio modules you mentioned should have plenty of room to clear the opening, so I think you're still in good shape there.

One thing I'd love to know is whether you've measured that 16" opening from the floor of the compartment itself or from the bottom lip of the storage hatch. That could make a difference in how much clearance you actually have to work with!

I am really satisfied with the unit. I installed mine by myself, but I really encourage a person to have some help. The only problem I had in using it is that if you’re not perfectly level the side that’s higher wants to roll back into the compartment. I solved that by making a hook assembly to hold it. The unit works great. I’m glad I purchased it.
