Is Benton MoveHitch Good Carrier to Replace Folding Curt Carrier

Updated 10/14/2026 | Published 10/13/2026

Question:

Hi there! I currently run a foldable Curt hitch cargo carrier thats seen tens of thousands of miles w/ weight capacities really stretching its limits. I think its hit its expiry as it dips down quite low now even unloaded. Was in the midst of contemplating upgrading to a small utility trailer, but then caught eye of your new benton foldable model. My main use cases are roadtrips, camping, holding strollers etc. Do you reckon or anticipate any upcoming Black Friday sales for this item? Thanks!

Hey Ami, the Benton MoveHitch part # B38VR is a really nice carrier that will be a great upgrade for what you have now. I wouldn't anticipate the price getting much better anytime soon from a Black Friday sale or anything else so I would feel comfortable saying to go ahead and get it now. How much weight do you think you carried in the Curt carrier?

Oh gosh.. I wish I could send photos through here. Let's just say, more than I care to admit. Although I always used ratchet straps and x-linked chains from carrier to vehicle so the only day I'd ruin is mine and nobody else's ;) But right on James, thanks for the quick reply. I'll likely get in an order in sometime this week along w/ a few of the accessories. They'd be shipped to Seattle, WA which I think the alloy frame of the Benton would do quite well compared to my steel Curt. Cheers, Ami

@JamesonC thanks again for all your help so far. I plan on buying the kit which would include the hot mesh, but I'd also like to have a carrier bag for more edge cases. There may be an inherent bias/conflict of interest in asking this, but could you speak to the pros behind the larger e-trailer bag vs. the largest curt bag? I know the dimensions are a bit different, but if you could speak to the materials used i.e. fabric quality and straps, that'd be great in helping my decision process. cheers, ami

@AmiS I'll be totally transparent with you. They materials and everything are virtually identical between the Curt bag # C18211 and the etrailer part # 988501. I would go with whichever has the better dimensions for your application.
