How is this valve different than the cheaper partno VAL45MB ? How is the Valtera E-valve different from the EZValve? Other than the sticker, they look like the same product.

Hey Daniel, welcome back! You're right, these two valves are very similar. Both the Valterra EZ Valve # E40A-8 and E-Valve # VAL45MB use a 12V electric motor to open and close your RV's 3" waste valve with the flip of a switch. Both have 3" spigot connections, a water-resistant motor, a manual override, and an indicator light that lets you know when the valve is open. The motors also have the same 2.5-amp power draw.
The biggest difference is in the wiring and included electrical protection. The EZ Valve #E40A-8 has a built-in, resettable 5-amp circuit breaker and an 8' wiring harness, while the less expensive E-Valve #VAL45MB has a 7' total wiring harness and does not have that same built-in breaker feature. Both accomplish the same basic job, so the E-Valve is a good way to save a few dollars if you don't need those additional features.
Are you replacing an existing electric waste valve, or are you upgrading from a manual pull-handle setup?

Valterra's EZ Valve is an electric waste valve designed for RV black water. One really good feature has been the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Black Water tanks. In order to protect it after I purchased it, I constructed a protective housing that only maintains 65 degrees in the winter and is lined with a thin layer of insulation that runs the length of the housing. I made the top portion of the housing detachable in case I needed to use the emergency handle, and I also used aluminum bubble wrap to protect the exterior of the housing, which keeps all dust out. Before the valve was permanently placed in a 45-degree installed handle rise-up position, I also purchased the appropriate lubricant for the seals. The valve is used weekly or 48 times a year by me, a full-time RVer. The valve has been working perfectly. Additionally, I have implemented an unconventional approach: I have implemented insulation in each compartment. Both of the internal handles are now permanently open, and I only use the main electric waste valve (Valterra EZ Valve) to empty the tank. This unusual method was used by me thirteen years ago; the only thing I changed was adding "Valterra's EZ Valve." The heavy-duty "Valterra's EZ Valve" has made my life RVing so much easier, as I was completely exhausted by the tedious task of pulling of cables and lubricating those cheap products. Sincerely Scott P.S: I appreciate this wonderful product; however, if you wish to follow in my footsteps, make sure you purchase the appropriate model.
