How To Fix Utopia RV Faucet With Clogged Aerator That Just Trickles Water

Updated 10/14/2026 | Published 10/11/2026

Question:

I have the Utopia RV faucet in my Rockwood 2911 bs. The bathroom sink is at a trickle. It has to be a clogged aerator. I CANT GET THE AERATOR OFF. Ive tried everything to the point of scratching the faucet. How do you get the aerator off to get the screen cleaned? Thank you.

Hey Kristen.

The aerator on your Utopia faucet would unscrew counterclockwise, but mineral buildup can make it difficult to remove. I'd try soaking the tip in white vinegar, then using a rubber band for more grip or a cloth with pliers for extra grip without scratching the finish. Be careful not to force it since the faucet has plastic components and could crack.

I'd also check the water pressure at your other faucets. If they're working normally, the issue is likely a clogged aerator, faucet cartridge, or restricted supply line. If everything has low pressure, I'd check your RV's water filter, pump, or pressure regulator.

If you end up needing a replacement faucet, we have the Utopia Faucet # UT47MR, but hopefully you don't have to replace all of it. If you still can't get the aerator off, send me a picture of it at [email protected] and I'll make sure it's not something that requires a different method, but I've never seen one that doesn't just unscrew.

Is the bathroom sink the only faucet with low water pressure?

It's the bathroom sink only. I've checked the lines they're fine. My bet is debris that might have fallen into the water hose while trying to roll it up and put it away on our previous trip. I used the bathroom faucet to make sure there was no air in the line. It ran fine for that, but afterwards, we had a trickle. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it is. The sink feels like one solid piece. I will try the vinegar. We have another trip in a few days. Fingers crossed that I can get this resolved. Thank you for your help!!

@Kristen Ok thanks for the info. Yeah it still sounds like it's either the aerator is the likely suspect. You could also take out the set screw holding the handle on and check the cartridge filter as that could be clogged there too potentially. As for the aerator, you can also use needle nose pliers if you're careful, or get an aerator removal key from amazon or something.

I soaked the entire tip of my faucet in vinegar overnight. The aerator still won't come off. I even took a hairdryer and used it to heat the faucet tip, then tried turning it. Nothing will turn, BUT the vinegar must have dissolved mineral buildup or something. I DO have freely running water. Thank you for all your help. If it ever clogs again, I'M JUST GETTING A NEW FAUCET! LOL

@Kristen Hey Kristen, that's great news that it's flowing properly now! I didn't think about trying to break up the minerals that way, but I guess it worked! haha
