Question:
I have a forest river surveyor 27camp i was looking at a set of dexter ez flex equalizers PN K71-654-00. my question is will these work with my trailer. they say they are for 6000 lbs. is that per axle of overall weight? my trailer is 7000 loaded. if those do not work for my trailer do you have another option for my weight rating? thank you for your time.

Hey Brad. You are definitely going to want to go with a higher rated equalizer kit for your 7,000 lbs Forest River Surveyor 27Camp. The Dexter item # K71-654-00 has too low of a capacity to work. For a comparable sized equalizer, I recommend the Lippert Road Armor item # LC53CK.
The Lippert Road Armor item # LC53CK is rated for up to 8,000 lbs and measures 3-1/4" tall by 6" wide. The equalizers have a single pivoting arm and rubber shock absorbers that allow up to 6" of travel to address trailer chucking. They are made of steel and powder coated black to protect against corrosion. They come with brass bushings as well.
When you swap out your equalizers, you'll also want to replace your suspension hardware as those bolts are only meant to be torqued down once. You'll want to pick a kit with the closest size to your current shackle straps.
The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers item # MR46ZR is for 2-1/4" shackles or item # MR76ZR is for 3-1/8" shackles. These kits come with the bronze bushings, wet bolts for easy maintenance, and shackle straps.
What equalizers are currently on your Forest River Surveyor 27Camp and how long are your shackle straps from the center to center of the mounting holes? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.
