Does Ark ARK46FR Replace RV Converter Charger
Published 09/30/2026 >
Question:
Quick question, does the ARK46FR replace the converter/charger in my travel trailer? I'm trying to figure out if this handles shore power charging too or if I still need my existing converter.

Hey David! No, the Ark DC-DC Battery Charger # ARK46FR does not replace the converter in your travel trailer. You'll still need your converter for AC-to-DC charging when you're connected to shore power.
The # ARK46FR ties into your existing electrical system and handles DC-to-DC charging from the tow vehicle along with solar charging through its built-in MPPT controller. It also has a 500 amp smart shunt for battery monitoring and 500 amp busbar distribution, so it combines several parts of your electrical system into one unit.
What converter and batteries do you have now?
