Is There Trimming Required to Install TowSmart Hitch on 2024 Mercedes GLB250

Updated 09/30/2026 | Published 09/28/2026

Question:

I have a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB250 4Matic. I need a hitch to accommodate a Thule Epos bike rack. Would this one require a hole to be cut into the bumper in order to install it?

Hey Susan, the Towsmart hitch part # TS26VR is a fit for your 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB250 4Matic and will do a great job carrying your Thule Epos # TH49XE bike rack. As far as trimming the rear bumper goes you have two options. You can cut the hole in the rear fascia like you mentioned or you can get the OEM bumper insert with cut out that looks to be part # A2478859805. If you want a cleaner factory look the OEM insert is the way to go. What kind of bikes do you have?

I installed the hitch myself. I've installed several. This one was the worst install. You have to dismantle the rear of the car. I just zipped a hole in the bottom of the bumper with a multi-tool. It's virtually undetectable.

@Vagabond49 yeah modern vehicles have made hitch installs a bit more involved for sure.
