VWD Dual Vent Window Lower Glass Is Out of Alignment
Updated 09/25/2026 | Published 09/24/2026 >
Question:
I have a VWD dual vent driver front newly installed.the two lower vent windows don’t line up with the upper glass by 1/4 “. There’s slight damage to the aluminum rail holding the vent windows, but I don’t think that is causing the problem. I can manually push them over to where they’re supposed to be, but they won’t stay over there. Please advise

Hey Mark, thanks for reaching out. Based on what you’re describing, I don’t think this is an installation adjustment issue. The VWD dual-vent window uses the lower vent panels and aluminum frame as an assembled unit, so if both lower panes naturally sit about 1/4" out of alignment and immediately move back after you manually push them into place, something in that lower vent/frame assembly is likely bent, shifted, or out of square.
Since you also see damage on the aluminum rail and the window is newly installed, I would not try bending the rail or modifying the vent hardware. Take a few pictures showing the 1/4" misalignment, the damaged rail, and the entire window, then contact the seller or VWD for a warranty evaluation. Even if that damage does not look severe, the fact that both vents can be pushed into alignment but will not stay there makes me suspicious that the frame or vent mechanism is holding them in the wrong position.
Did you notice the rail damage before installation, or only after the window was already mounted?

Hey Jesse; I noticed it when I opened the package. But I think that it can be repaired with a specialized aluminum part that VWD has. There’s a small aluminum slider or block that holds both of the windows in place and the left most one is missing, allowing the windows to slide left 1/4”. If I could obtain this little aluminum slide, I’m confident that I could repair it. How do I attach photos to this email?
