Replacing Wheel Stud and Lug Nut on 2020 Stehl Tow ST80TD Tow Dolly
Updated 09/23/2026 | Published 09/21/2026 >
Question:
I have a 2020 Stehl Tow ST80TD tow dolly and recently had one of the wheel studs shear off. I’d like to replace the stud and lug nut with the correct spec parts. Can you please confirm the correct wheel stud thread size/pitch, stud length and knurl diameter, as well as the correct lug nut size and seat type for this dolly? And suggest correct replacement parts

Thanks for reaching out Robby. Unfortunately, there isn't a reliable way for me to identify the correct replacement wheel stud for your Stehl ST80TD tow dolly based solely on the VIN and model. Stehl uses different hub and brake configurations on these dollies, and I wasn't able to find a definitive wheel stud specification for your particular setup. I suspect your dolly uses a 1/2"-20 wheel stud, similar to the Replacement Trailer Hub Wheel Stud - Drive-In # 165981. However, we would also need to match the overall stud length and knurl diameter before I could confidently recommend it as a replacement.
The exact stud you need will ultimately depend on the hub or brake drum installed on your dolly. I'd recommend contacting Stehl directly with your VIN to see if they can identify the original hub and provide the correct wheel stud specifications. Another option is to remove one of the undamaged studs and have it measured at a local trailer or automotive shop.
What vehicle do you normally tow on your ST80TD?
