SE57FR Pump and SE38FR Accumulator Tank Pressure Adjustment
Updated 09/18/2026 | Published 09/15/2026 >
Question:
Just received and installed the new pump and accumulator tank today. Part SE38FR and I had this in my previous trailer and it worked great. The part I loved the most was that I could get 5-10 seconds of water flow every time before the pump kicked on. On this one I installed today, I checked the pressure and set it to 10psi, but the pump still kicks on virtually instantly. Did I miss something or do I need to adjust the pressures on the pump, SE57FR? Way quieter but just wondering why the pump kicks on instantly....thank you!

Hi Rich, that's common and has an easy fix!
Since your part # SE38FR was still at the factory 10 PSI, that is most likely why the pump is coming on almost immediately. The 10 PSI is simply the accumulator’s factory air precharge, and it needs to be adjusted to match the pressure range of your new SE57FR pump. The SE57FR typically turns on around 30 PSI, so we recommend setting the accumulator to about 28 PSI. With the pump turned off and a faucet open to relieve the water pressure, adjust the air pressure at the accumulator’s Schrader valve to about 28 PSI. Then close the faucet and turn the pump back on. That should give the accumulator enough stored pressure to provide the short burst of water you were getting with your previous setup before the pump kicks on.
What do you think of the new setup so far besides that issue?

You are right Heather. I installed two (2) accumulator last month in our Restroom trailers and works perfect. I adjust the pressure to 15 PSI it was easy.
