Roof Replacement Kit for 1995 Cobra Seven Seas

Updated 09/18/2026 | Published 09/15/2026

Question:

Ive discovered a leak in the roof of my 1995 Cobra Seven Seas 23foot Class C. So far, my internet research has told me that the expected life of a rubber rooffoot is 20-30 years, so at 31 years old, I should be looking at a total replacement rather than attempting a patch... I dont know what type of membrane is currently there. I suspect its EPDM, as its mostly black, with some residual of a white coating that was applied at some point. Im also seeing TPO and PVC mentioned as alternatives. What would you recommend I choose? Im looking at your TPO membrane and installation kit, so I have a few questions: 1 Do you have half-size options that would be better suited for my 23foot RV? 2 WHat is the application temperature range for the membrane adhesive? Ill be doing this job in an unheated garage over the winter in Michigan, so Ill need to watch the weather and pick my work days carefully.

Hey Richard! At 31 years old, I agree with your thinking. If the original roof membrane is leaking and showing that much age, I would replace the membrane rather than try to get more life out of it with another coating or patch.

For your 1995 Cobra Seven Seas, I recommend the Alpha Systems Superflex TPO Roof Membrane Kit # AL66UV. This gives you a 25' long x 9-1/2' wide membrane, so you won't have to buy one of the much longer kits and cut off a large amount of excess material.

It also includes the adhesive, butyl tape, and sealant needed for the installation. TPO is what I would go with for the replacement. It's lightweight, durable, UV resistant, and doesn't require the periodic coatings your old roof appears to have received.

The Alpha Systems adhesive has an application temperature range of 33 to 120 degrees F. Since you'll be working in an unheated garage in Michigan, you'll want to pick a warmer stretch and make sure the adhesive, membrane, and roof are above 33 degrees during installation.

Have you pulled back any of the existing membrane yet to see if the roof decking underneath the leak will also need to be replaced?
