Thanks for letting us help Dennis. To determine the correct replacement leaf springs, you'll want to measure them unloaded. The best way to do this is to jack up the trailer so the weight is off the axles and suspension. It sounds like you have double-eye leaf springs, so you'll measure from the center of one spring eye to the center of the other. Keep in mind that leaf springs flatten and become slightly longer as they wear, so your original springs may have been a little shorter when they were new. You'll also want to match the replacement springs to the capacity of your axle. If the measurement you provided was taken with the suspension unloaded as described above, a 26-inch spring like the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # e77SR would be an appropriate replacement. I'm not sure whether you have a single- or tandem-axle trailer, but you'll want to replace the springs in pairs. That means two springs for a single axle or four springs for a tandem axle setup.
I'd also recommend replacing the U-bolts while you're doing the springs. The correct kit will depend on the shape and dimensions of your axle. If you have a round axle, it's likely 1-3/4 inches in diameter, in which case the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit for 2,000-lb Round Trailer Axles # CE23000 would be a good option. If you have a 1-1/2-inch square axle, you can use the CE Smith U-Bolt Kit for 1-1/2" Square Trailer Axles # CE23102. Since your trailer is from the '90s and axle dimensions can vary, I'd definitely measure the axle before ordering the U-bolts. Each U-bolt kit services one axle, so you'll need two kits if you have a tandem-axle trailer.
Are you planning to replace any other suspension hardware while replacing the leaf springs? If so, I'd be happy to help you match those components as well.
