The t18c valve can i unbolt. origional valve and bolt this directly to it. is the only difference in TR38A and t18c the y?

That is correct Larry and you sure can. The Double RV Waste Valves item # T18C has a a standard "T" shape and the Double RV Waste Valves item # TR38A branches of in a Y style angle. Both of them fit a 3" hub and 1-1/2" spigot.
The Valterra Waste Valve for RV Gray Water Tank item # T1001B will replace the 1-1/2" waste valve on both the item # TR38A and item # T18C. It'll simple bolt in in place of the current one you have installed. It'll keep you from having to replace the entire assembly.
