How Far Does the Yakima EXO SwingBase Stick Out With the Arms Folded In?
Updated 09/08/2026 | Published 08/20/2026 >
Question:
What is the MINIMUM depth of the Exo Base when installed and arms folded in? The overall length of my van cannot exceed 20, so I need to know how far back the Exo Base will go when nothing is on it. Thanks.

Hello Jeremy,
Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!
The Yakima EXO SwingBase included with # Y34ZR will stick out 15-11/16" from the center of your hitch pin hole to the farthest point of the base when the arms are folded in.
Since you need to keep your van under 20' overall, I would measure 15-11/16" back from the center of your hitch pin hole. That will give you a good idea of exactly where the EXO will end and whether it will keep you under that 20' mark. I hope this works out with your measurements, this is really an awesome system!
Is the 20' limit for where you store the van, or are you trying to stay within a campground or parking restriction?

Thank you for this information. The 20’ is the maximum length to park it at my house. I don’t want to do RV storage. Thanks again.
