Thanks for the information Tom! To replace your Dometic B57915-71150 AC unit, I recommend the GE Appliances Deluxe RV AC System w/ Heat Pump item # GE25ZR in black or item # GE52ZR in white. These systems are designed for ducted applications and will install using the existing cutout and wiring. They include a 13,500 btu air condition with R32 refrigerant, a built in heat pump, air distribution box, and a thermostat.
Due to a EPA regulations change at the beginning of 2025, none of the newer AC units are compatible with the older Dometic air boxes because all of the old R410A units and their parts are being phased out. Not only will the item # GE25ZR in black or item # GE52ZR in white allow you to avoid any compatibility issues, it will allow you to upgrade to an AC unit with the new R32 refrigerant.
Swapping out your Dometic B57915-71150 AC unit with one of the GE systems won't be too complicated. You'll be able to reuse all your existing wiring to power and control the new AC's settings. The new units will fit inside the same cutout without any need for modification.
What kind of climates do you you typically camp in?
