Question:
I have a 2020 Honda Odyssey That I would like to get a Thule Revert 6 bike rack for. I need a hitch that will accommodate this bike rack and am interested in your thoughts. I see the hidden vs. non-hidden options. I prefer the look of the hidden but the install looks a bit more substantial, but it may be worth the extra ground clearance.

Hello Kevin,
Thanks for writing in.
Both the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98855 and the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7372 are great options for using the Thule ReVert 6 on your 2020 Honda Odyssey.
Since you mentioned ground clearance, I think this will help with your decision. We measured both hitches at 13-1/2" from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver, so you won't gain any additional receiver ground clearance by going with the hidden EcoHitch. The real advantage of the # 306-X7372 is appearance. Its cross tube is hidden behind the bumper, while the cross tube on the # e98855 remains visible underneath. I attached some pictures of both installed so you can see exactly what that difference looks like.
Both installations require some work around the panels or fascia and neither requires drilling through the vehicle frame. The EcoHitch also requires temporarily lowering the exhaust, removing the bumper/fascia, and trimming the fascia during installation.
For me, this really comes down to whether the cleaner appearance of the hidden cross tube is worth the additional cost to you. Since the receiver height is the same, I wouldn't spend the extra money expecting more ground clearance. If you really like that clean, factory-style appearance though, the EcoHitch # 306-X7372 is worth considering.
What kind of trails are you hitting with your bikes? We have the Katy Trail here in Missouri, it is not much work at all for a nice stroll =)

Since 2008 I had three Honda Odyssey minivans (2008, 2019, 2026) and am on third hitch from eTrailer (all thee were not hidden). All three worked awesome (that's why I kept coming back) and installation was a breeze. I am using it to attach the bike rack and a small trailer. I didn't even have to jack the end of the van to bolt them in. On my 2026 Odyssey I did have to trim plastic bottom a bit on driver side to fit the hitch. I do not think this affects anything - all fit snug. eTrailer makes great hardware!

I bought the one that can be seen. I’ve used it only a few times, but I cannot do without the ability to tow or attach a luggage rack. Installation was easy, but I used a car jack to hold it in place while I bolted it on.
