Why Shouldn't I Open the Sunroof with a Roof Rack Installed On the Car?

Hi Richard,
Yes, it is not recommended to open the sunroof after installing the Thule WingBar Edge Roof Rack part # TH43VG. The roof rack itself doesn't usually interfere with the sunroof, but the carriers that install on top of the bars have mounting hardware that points downward under the bars. So, if the sunroof were to be opened with anything on the bars it could scratch or break the sunroof since it sticks out. Because the roof rack manufacturers don't have a way to determine what accessory will interfere, it's easier just to recommend not using the sunroof.
Also, all roof racks make noise, so even with the crossbars completely bare they still make noise. With the sunroof open, it would make even more noise, which might make having the sunroof open unpleasant.
