Is There a Custom Wiring Harness for 2026 Kia Sportage?

Updated 07/29/2026 | Published 07/24/2026

Question:

I am looking for a wiring harness for a 2026 Kia Sportage. Do you have one figured out and just not listed? Since the 2027 are hitting the dealer lots, i figure this should be a done thing.

Hey Duwayne,

After looking through our inventory as well as multiple manufacturers, I can confirm there is not a wiring kit available specifically for the 2026 Kia Sportage available yet. Typically, when vehicle manufacturers change the plugs from one model year to another, the wiring harness manufacturers have to start from scratch with acquiring the new vehicle, testing all of the electrical components, and manufacturing. It's probably that a harness is on the way for the 26 Sportage, but as of now there is no estimated arrival for them.

Because of that, you will need to use the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. This wiring harness is a universal kit and will need to be spliced in. It does come with quick connect snap connectors like TowSmart Wire Splice Connectors # TS67QR, but I highly recommend going with a more secure butt connection like Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector # DW05744-10. The butt connection does require a crimper like # PTW30764 to install it, but it will last you much longer and provide a better connection. All in, this is a fairly simple install, but it will probably require you to remove some panels or taillights, so if that's not something you feel comfortable with, you could check with one of our trusted installers in your area using the link below.

If you're also needing a trailer hitch, you'll want to go with our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e38KR. This custom-fit hitch will allow you to tow up to 3,500 lbs. or carry 525 lbs on the tongue, but you'll want to consult your owner's manual to double check your maximum ratings in case they're lower than the hitch's ratings. The install will be pretty straight forward with a bolt-up installation and no drilling required, but you will definitely want a second set of hands to help with the install. This hitch will be great both for towing trailers and carry bikes or cargo.

What do you plan to tow with your 2026 Sportage? Are you planning a trip or just getting the wiring to be prepared for the future?
