Does The GE Microwave GE34VR Vent From The Top Or The Back Of The Unit To The Outside?

Hey Pam, welcome back! The GE Appliances Over the Range RV Microwave Oven # GE34VR is designed as a recirculating over-the-range microwave. In its factory configuration, it exhausts out the top front grille above the door, not out the rear.

If you're asking about ducting it outside, the blower can be reconfigured for vertical (through-the-top) or horizontal (through-the-rear) venting, depending on your cabinet and wall setup. So, the microwave itself supports both top and rear external venting.

What camper are you using it in? Does it have a duct for venting the microwave?

It does have the hole in the outside wall that takes the regular flapper vent cover on the outside. We removed a broken convection microwave with vent fans and lights, and want to replace with just a microwave only with vent fans and lights.

@Pam Ok gotcha! Yes, the # GE34VR can be configured to work with that setup. Basically, you just remove a few screws and pop the panel off the back to get access to the blower fan. From there you can flip it around which will allow it to vent to the outside wall. It's really easy to do I just did the same thing with the microwave at my fathers-in-law house. The microwave kept shutting off after a few minutes of use and we couldn't figure out why. Turns out it wasn't venting correctly and all we had to do was rotate the fan to vent out the back and problem solved.
