Question:
Since my Brakebuddy Vantage failed compressor just wont turn off after flawless performance since I bought it and the company that makes Brakebuddy no longer exists, I am interested in the RVIBrake 4. I already have the battery monitor charger that I installed just last year to keep the battery charged. The bullseye monitor and brake system are easy to install as I already have a breakaway sensor from the brakebuddy. I am very pleased to see that this design includes a signal extender. However, I see conflicting information on the extender placement. Is it really under the hood of the toad? Is it really under the hood of the RV? Common sense tells me that I should have it halfway between the bullseye monitor and brake unit which would put it in in one of the storage bins in the R on the drivers side.. What is your take on this. I will be purchasing this soon from etrailer as your customer support is fantastic and I am not going to pass up on the rebate. Best regards

Hey Bill, welcome back! The extender for the Curt RVibrake 4 item # RVI44FR is supposed to be connected to your motorhome's chassis battery not your towed vehicle. It's more for the extender's protection and a consistent power source that's best for the sensitive electronics. Tapping into a power wire in the storage area won't guarantee a constant 12v power source.
I'm with you on this one as far as how a signal booster works but that's what the directions say to do with the range extender included with the Curt RVibrake 4 item # RVI44FR.
The Curt RVibrake 4 item # RVI44FR is going to work great with your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It comes with it's own brake away cable setup so you'll just have a spare in case something happens to the Brake Buddy one.
What kind of motorhome do you have?

I placed our extender in the rear and low on a 2020 Phaeton. Didn’t help. Relocated it to about halfway up the coach and high near the ceiling. It helps, but frankly it still sucks. Keep getting disconnects. Now I just check that it is workin when we start, then disconnect the bullseye …
