Hi Justin,

Thanks for your question.

The manufacturer of the 4" Wide Continuous Hinge - 6' Long - 3/8" Pin Diameter - Steel # MA85VR does not publish a maximum weight capacity. In fact, that's common with continuous hinges—none of the continuous hinges we carry are assigned a specific weight rating.

The amount of weight a continuous hinge can support depends heavily on the application. Factors such as the length of the hinge being used, how it's mounted (welded or bolted), the strength of the door and frame, how the load is distributed, and the forces placed on the hinge all affect its capacity.

Because of that, we typically recommend continuous hinges based on their length, width, pin diameter, material, and whether they're designed for a bolt-on or weld-on installation, rather than by a weight rating.

Are you looking to replace a hinge on a specific door, gate, or trailer application? I'd be happy to help you determine whether # MA85VR is the right choice.

They are very strong Hinges. I drive my Polasis General over them with no problem.

I used a 3 foot section to hold up the end of a 14 foot long x 3 foot wide attic staircase on a hoist. I’m guessing the staircase clocks in at around 500 pounds. The hinge is very strong.
