Does the Curt C58VV Hitch Fit a 2026 Lexus RZ450e AWD and Affect the Hands Free Liftgate?

Question:

2026 Lexus RZ450e AWD with 2nd motor driving rear wheels. Does this Curt receiver fit? And does it interfere with the kick sensor to open the rear hatch?

Yes, the Curt Rack Receiver, Part # C58VV, is confirmed by Curt to fit your 2026 Lexus RZ450e AWD, including models equipped with the dual motor all wheel drive system. This receiver is designed for hitch mounted accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers, but it is not rated for towing.

As for the hands free liftgate, adding a hitch in the center of the bumper can affect the factory kick sensor. Most owners still have success activating the liftgate by placing their foot to either side of the receiver instead of directly underneath it. If you'd like to restore functionality that's closer to the factory setup, you could likely have a local Lexus dealer or qualified mechanic install the OEM short kick sensor harness, Part Number 8910A-46010. That harness relocates the sensing area and restores it's full functionality.

I know it's frustrating to worry about giving up a feature you use every day but that is pretty common with that feature and installing a hitch.

What are you planning to carry on the hitch, and how often do you use the kick to open hatch?

Receiver to used with bike carrier and carry platform. I used the kick to open weekly when grocery loading.

@StephenK Thanks for the follow up, Stephen. That sounds like a great setup, and the Curt Rack Receiver, Part # C58VV, is a good choice for carrying a bike rack and a cargo carrier. Since you use the kick to open feature every week when you're loading groceries, my recommendation would be to install the hitch first and see how it works for you. A lot of people find they can still open the liftgate by kicking to either side of the receiver, so you may not need to change anything at all. If that doesn't give you the results you're hoping for, then I'd look into the OEM short kick sensor Did you already find the bike rack and cargo carrier?
