Can I Convert a Demco Autoslide from the Rail Mount to My 2024 Ford OEM Prep Package?

Question:

I have a 24 F250 with the puck system. My father in law has a Demco auto slider that is top rail mounted in his ram 2500. Is there a way I can use his hitch in my truck? Or do I need to buy a whole new sliding hitch?

Your father-in-law's Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Dodge Ram - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 18,000 lbs # DM59XV is built to mount to industry-standard above-bed rails, so it won't drop right into your Ford's OEM prep package.

If you really wanted to use his hitch, you'd have to take it apart until you were left with the Replacement Head and Base Assembly for Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 18K # DM6077. From there, you could install the Replacement Side Plates for Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Ford Super Duty # DM6033 so it would fit your factory puck system.

If you decide that you do not want to do it that way, the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Ford Super Duty Prep Package - 18K # DM8550024 is the correct one for your puck system in your 2024 Ford F-250 with OEM Prep Package.
