What info Is Needed to Replace Trailer Hubs

Question:
Hi. I have a magic tilt boat trailer for a 23 foot grady white boat and want to replace the hubs. This trailer has disc brakes on it. I want heavy duty hubs so want the 3500lbs hubs not sure what is on there now. How do i know what to buy?

Hey Jason, the first thing you need to determine is the axle capacity of your trailer so that we can make sure we get you the correct hubs that will fit. If you check the axle there should be a label on it that has the capacity listed. Or you can pull a hub and get the bearing numbers/diameter of the spindle where the bearing rides. Since you have disc brakes currently I would assume you have 3,500 lb hubs which have 10 inch rotors like the DeeMaxx part # DE66YR. Other than that I would need to know the bolt pattern. Which if you have a 5 lug bolt pattern that would also make me think you have 3,500 lb axles too.

I replaced all 4 hubs, disc brakes, and spindles on my trailer for my 22’ C-Dory. Once the old hardware was removed, installation was pretty straightforward. I’m happy to report no issues after a 1,000 mile trip to Canada. I used the DE66YR assemblies.
