Is There A Way to Install Gooseneck Hitch in 2009 Ford Truck with OEM Style Puck Kit

Updated 06/30/2026 | Published 06/26/2026

Question:

I have a 2009 f350 SD with a puck style mounting for a 5th wheel hitch. I am looking to get a gooseneck mount. Is there anything with a puck style where I can put on like my 5th wheel hitch or do I have to install a gooseneck system? What options do I have?

Hey Josh, so Ford didn't start making the OEM puck kits for their truck till 2010 which means you most likely have a Reese Elite rail kit which is basically exact same thing. There used to be a Reese adapter that would go from your pucks to a gooseneck adapter but Reese is not in business currently so we can't get that. So instead best option would be to use a Curt Ford Rail Kit adapter part # C88KR so that you can then use the Curt Spyder # 16085.

I know using two adapters probably isn't your most ideal solution but it will work and it won't require any install time unlike having to remove your pucks and install a gooseneck.
