Safety Chain Recommendation for Boat Trailer that Weighs 1776 kg

Hi Boat trailer with GVWR OF 1776KG , waht size safety chains should we be using 1/4inch or 5/16inch and what grade ? Thank you

Hey Dirk, a 1776 kg boat trailer weighs right at 3,900 lbs so a safety chain like the Laclede part # 1483-535-04 that you referenced would be a really great option. This has more than enough capacity and is 3/8 inch in diameter. What kind of boat do you have?

That seem way over kill , it has a breaking strength of 16,200 lbs ! The trailer GVWR is only 3900 LBS

@Dirk The safe working limit is 5,400 lbs is why I recommended it. The capacities are goofy in how they list both the break strength and the working load limit.
