Should Straps on Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Lock Down

Question:

Hello, I just assembled my new bike rack from you the HLY74FR Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4 and 2 Hitches. I have a question about the wheel straps. They do not seem to lock down once fed through the clip. Is this by design or is the clip now working properly? It seems like the strap should lock into the clip but I cannot figure out why it is not. Best regards, Will

Hey Will! The straps on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY74FR have a ratcheting design so they should lock into place. There will be clicking as you tighten the straps down, and they should not back out once you have them pulled through unless you press on the button to release them.

Are they slipping or did you think there would be a more distinct sound or indication they were locked in place?

William, You can rotate the straps 180 degrees to get the ratcheting effect. Or in other words just flip them around.

@Mark good thinking, that might be the issue here.

I was going to say, make sure that the straps are going through the correct way. In other words flip them over so the smooth surface and ridged surface are opposite of the way they were oriented when they didn’t catch.
