Question:
Good afternoon, I have a 2018 Ford Edge SEL. It already has a trailer hitch but no wiring. I’m preparing to tow a small UHaul trailer. What wiring will I need to purchase and can this be installed as a DIY project or is it more involved? I’d like to know your recommendation, please.

Hey Manie, welcome back! To add a 4-way wiring harness to your 2018 Ford Edge SEL, I recommend the Curt item # C56272. This custom fit harness is going to plug in directly behind your rear tail lights and provide with you with a 4-way connector.
The only tricky part that would keep this from being a simple DIY project is going to be the 12v power line. With the Curt item # C56272, you have to run a wire all the way up to your Edge's battery. This means routing it under your Edge and avoiding moving parts and exhaust pipes. There's typically other runs of cables you can follow and attach to but you're still doing this lying underneath your SUV.
I linked the installation instructions below so you can see the entire process.
We do have local installers all around the country though. Underneath the pictures on the Curt item # C56272 product page, you'll see a box that says, SCHEDULE AN INSTALLATION. If you click on that you'll be able to input your zip code. This will connect you to our network of reputable installers that will give you a quote based on your area.
What are you hauling with your U-Haul trailer?
