Hi Gary,
The Demco eZ-Latch Channel Tongue Coupler # DM16080-95 is the replacement I would recommend for your Atwood 80131. It is designed for a 3 inch channel tongue, fits a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, and uses a 5-hole mounting pattern that was designed to replace many of the older Atwood couplers.
I completely understand wanting to avoid drilling new holes in your trailer. While the # DM16080-95 is a very common replacement for the Atwood 80131 and has worked successfully for many customers, I can't guarantee the mounting holes will line up perfectly without verifying your existing bolt pattern.
I did some digging on the older Atwood 80131 and found references indicating the mounting holes were spaced 3 inches apart center to center. The Demco # DM16080-95 uses the same 3-inch spacing, which is one of the reasons it is commonly used as a replacement. If you can take a quick measurement of your current coupler's mounting holes, I'd be happy to compare them and confirm the fit before you order.
One nice benefit of the Demco is its eZ-Latch design, which automatically latches onto the hitch ball when you lower the coupler, making hookups a little easier and giving you added confidence that the coupler is fully engaged.
What do you tow most often, and would a self-latching coupler make your hookups a little easier?
