Question:

I have a 2013 Traverse LT and need to install a trailer wiring harness. I think the Tow Ready T-1 harness p/n 118271 is the way I want to go. Currently I only need a flat 4 pin connection but might need the 7 pin in the future. Can you supply a harness with a 7 and 4 trailer connector plug like the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket p/n HM40975. Also how the heck do you make that connection to the socket that is buried beneath the vehicle on the frame rail. I can one hand on the socket but that’s it … Any suggestions

I do have a solution that would allow you to install the # HM40975 on your 2012 Traverse. I assume the socket you've found on the passenger side frame rail, to the right of the muffler as shown in Diagram 'C' that I provided.

You would first install the Tow Ready # 118271 that you mentioned, because you need the fuses and relays to activate the tow package as well as the pigtail. On the rear of the 7-way where the pigtail meets the trailer connector, you'd slide up the gray locking clip and unplug the connector from the harness. Discard the 7-way or save it as a spare. You would then plug in the # HM40975 connector you mentioned, which would provide you with a functioning 4-pole and a 7-way. I'd prefer this option because it would combine both trailer connectors into one unit.

A second option would involve using the # 118271 along with the # C55384. You'd unplug the connector from the pigtail, and plug the # C55384 inline. You'll need a bracket like # 18144 for the 4-pole. The advantage of going this route is that you won't end up with a trailer connector you don't need.
