Does The Brandmotion Digital Rear View Mirror BM23YR Have An Auto-Dimming Feature?
Updated 06/09/2026 | Published 06/08/2026 >
Question:
Hello, I’m considering the Brandmotion FLTW-2000 Part Number: BM23YR for a vehicle install and wanted to clarify a few details before purchasing. I called Brandmotion directly and was told the mirror does not have auto-dimming capabilities, but the eTrailer listing states that it does. I’m trying to understand the discrepancy. Could you please confirm: 1 Does the FLTW-2000 have true auto-dimming like OEM rearview mirrors, or is any dimming limited to LCD screen brightness adjustment? 2 If it does dim automatically, what is actually being dimmed — the reflective mirror surface or just the display? 3 What is the native resolution of the display? Thanks for your help, I appreciate the clarification. Best, Josh

Hey Josh, thanks for reaching out. I can help clear that up.
The Brandmotion FLTW-2000 part # BM23YR does not have a traditional OEM-style auto-dimming mirror surface. If Brandmotion told you it does not have auto-dimming capabilities, that aligns with the information we have from the manufacturer. The mirror glass itself is not electrochromic and does not automatically darken like a factory auto-dimming rearview mirror. Not sure why that wording was added to our page but I will work on getting that removed. Sorry for any confusion.
What the unit does offer is adjustment of the display brightness. So if you see references to dimming, that pertains to the LCD display portion of the mirror and not the reflective mirror surface itself. The mirror remains a standard reflective surface while the display brightness can be adjusted for day and night viewing.
As for the display resolution, Brandmotion does not publish the native screen resolution in the product specifications we have available. The display is designed to provide a clear rear camera image and split-screen functionality, but the manufacturer has not released an official pixel resolution specification for the screen itself.
Based on the information available, I would consider the FLTW-2000 a camera mirror with adjustable display brightness rather than a true OEM-style auto-dimming mirror.
What vehicle were you thinking of using it on?
