Can 2" Square Tubing Be Inserted into the Entire Length of the Buyers Products Weld-On Receiver Tube

Updated 06/17/2026 | Published 06/08/2026

Question:

Is the weld seam penetration removed along the entire ID of the receiver? Can a piece of 2inch square tubing slide all the way through it?

Welcome back James! The Buyers Products Weld-On Receiver Tube item # 337RT25824B is 2" throughout the entire 24" length. I went down and took a look at one. There's no weld seams on the inside of the receiver. The collar is welded onto the tube from the outside corners.

What do you plan on using the receiver tube for?

Yes, uniform all the way through. I cut mine down to a tapered C-channel with welded nuts for part of the length to slide into the narrow frame rails of a Vanagon (I made a custom triple receiver hitch). There were trace amounts of weld seam in a few spots, but nothing I couldn't quickly knock away with a hand file. I otherwise found them impressively uniform. I had previously bought a pair from a well known discount tool store chain and had to mill them substantially on a Briidgeport in order to jig everything up to fit. I won't make that mistake again.
